I'm just sitting here thinking about a friend of ours by the name of Terry Fisher. He is a nice man. One of the things I love most about Terry is his smile. I have never seen him when he wasn't smiling. He always seems to be happy and in a good mood. If he wasn't, then he hid it well.
Terry is the husband of Theresa, also a friend of ours. He is the father of our son-in-law, Joey who is married to our daughter Jesse. They have two daughters--Danielle and Zoie. They are also a wonderful family. So Terry and Theresa and Mike and I share families together. We have had Thanksgiving with Terry and Theresa for several years now at our daughter's house. We will miss out on that this year because we are in Florida.
Terry has lung cancer and he's not doing very well at all. He is nearing the end of his life here on this earth. Terry may not be around for Thanksgiving this year either but he knows the Lord. So he may have the best Thanksgiving of all of us. Come Thanksgiving if Terry's no longer with us, we can imagine him sitting at the Lord's table in Heaven. Oh, what a day he will be having up there, no longer in pain, feasting at the table of the Lord. He will be running through the streets of Heaven visiting people who have gone on before him and, of course, he'll be smiling from ear to ear. No more sorrows, no more pain.
Terry will be leaving behind his wife and three children and several grandchildren and friends. He will be sorely missed here on this earth. Pray for Terry's family. This is going to be hard for them. Terry's still a young man in his 50's. I know Mike and I will miss him and his wonderful smile. Terry's not gone yet and only God knows when He will take Terry to live with Him for eternity. Only God can heal the hearts of those who are taking care of him every hour of the day and who will be left behind. Pray for Terry's care-givers. Pray for healing for this family.
Lord, I pray right now for our friend Terry Fisher. I pray for Theresa who loves him very much and is doing everything in her power to make Terry comfortable and to spend as much time as she has left with him, her husband and best friend. We can't possibly fathom how they feel knowing they're about to be separated for a while. But, Lord, help Theresa hold on to the fact that one day she will see Terry again. Give her strength and knowledge to care for Terry to the best of her ability. Lord, I ask that you keep Terry's pain to a bare minimum. Help them to keep their eyes on you, Lord. I pray you will be with their family during this stressful time and when it's over that you would heal their broken hearts. We love You, Lord, and need You in our lives. God Bless this family. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen
Revelation 21:4 He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.
