Branford, Florida

We are in a new campground tonight--River Run in Branford, Florida.  It's off the beaten path.  As a matter of fact, we got off I-10 to drive some back roads through Live Oak into Branford because we wanted to see the countryside.  It would have been great roads to ride motorcycles.  We found this great RV park.  It's beautiful.  The manager told us to just get out and walk around and pick our spot, so that's just what we did.  We picked a nice shady spot to be for the next 3 nights.  The weather was in the 60's today so all we needed was short sleeves.  It felt great.  The place has a laundry house so we washed a load of clothes.  Now we're ready for some relaxation.  We've been driving everyday for a week--with and without the RV.  We go out exploring whatever town we're in.  But for the next few days, we may just chill for a while.  This park happens to be sitting between two small towns, so there's not a lot to do but walk.  So tomorrow, we'll definitely be walking, a lot.  So far, for an entire week of staying in RV campgrounds, we've spent less than one night in a hotel.  Part of the fun of this, is seeing how inexpensive we can live while retired.  Of course, our biggest expense, so far, has been gas.  We use our gas app for finding the cheapest place to buy gas.  We're learning to ask for senior discounts when we go to a restaurant.  But we won't be eating out every day either.  So far, our meals have consisted of oatmeal for breakfast and then dinner out.  But tonight we stayed in and ate soup and sandwiches.  It was nice.  You know what else is nice?  Not having to get up to an alarm clock.  Not having to be in a hurry to get anywhere.  Not being on a schedule.  Rest and Relaxation and spending great quality time with each other.  Laughing a lot.  Living in our little home on wheels.  And as one of our favorite bands "The Trailer Park Troubadours" sang:

"It ain't home til you take the wheels off.  It ain't home til it's up on blocks."

Okay, actually it is home with our wheels on and we're only part way on blocks (wooden blocks) under the leveling jacks.  I just like the song.

Well, I'm tired and Bones is on TV here and I think I'll curl up with my blanky in my recliner.

Just Chillin'.  Mike and Melanna
